Considering our recent debates on the conjunction of ethnographic inquiries with phenomenological thought we are particularly happy to announce our upcoming session. Jonas Østergaard Nielsen from the Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRI THESys) will join us and share his insights into productive modes of working with phenomenological approaches. On that account he suggested that we have a closer look at Michael D. Jackson's (1996) essay on "Phenomenology, Radical Empiricism, and Anthropological Critique". Jackson's 'Existential Anthropology' had an inspiring impact on the ethnographic research conducted at the University of Copenhagen in the early 2000's. As he also was Jonas' MA thesis supervisor at that time, we have a unique chance to hear more about these far-reaching effects and ask questions about the actual process of their facilitation.
