Das Labor Migration am Institut für Europäische Ethnologie organisiert sich im
Sommersemester 2026 neu. Alle Interessierten sind herzlich eingeladen, ab dem
14.04.2026 mit uns jeden Dienstag von 17:00 bis 18:30 Uhr einen Explorationsraum
für neue Perspektiven in der ethnographischen Migrationsforschung zu eröffnen. . Das
Labor präsentiert die vielfach kollaborativ angelegten Arbeiten aus der aktuellen
Migrationsforschung des Instituts sowie von seinen Gastwissenschaftler:innen. Wir
greifen auch Initiativen aus aktivistischen oder künstlerischen Kreisen auf. In diesem
Semester beginnen wir mit den Themen Migration und Arbeit, Rassismus,
Flucht/Grenzen und enden mit/im Exil. Exil machen wir sowohl zum Thema als auch zur
Perspektive: als politische und alltagskulturelle Praxis, als ambivalente Bewegung und
als das potenzielle "Außen" in einer Welt, in der sich die Frage stellt, ob, wo und wie
dieses "Außen" noch existiert. Exil als eine Möglichkeit und ein epistemischer Ort, von
dem aus sich anthropologische Differenzen, Territorialität und Souveränität in Hinblick
auf menschliche Mobilität neu perspektivieren lassen. Dabei geht auch das Labor
Migration im Laufe des Semesters selbst ins Exil. In Kollaboration mit dem
Künstler:innenkollektiv parallelgesellschaft ziehen wir ab Mitte Mai in die Galerie Nord,
um von dort aus neue Pfade zu eröffnen. Alle sind willkommen!

The Migration Lab at the Institute for European Ethnology is reorganising itself for the
summer semester of 2026. Anyone interested is warmly invited to join us from 14 April
2026 every Tuesday from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm to create a space for exploring new
perspectives in ethnographic migration research. The Lab presents the largely
collaborative work from the Institute’s current migration research, as well as that of its
visiting scholars. We also draw on initiatives from activist and artistic circles. This
semester, we begin with the themes of migration and labour, racism, flight/borders, and
conclude with/in exile. We treat exile both as a subject and as a perspective: as a
political and everyday cultural practice, as an ambivalent movement, and as the
potential ‘outside’ in a world where the question arises as to whether, where and how
this ‘outside’ still exists. Exile as a possibility and an epistemic site from which
anthropological differences, territoriality and sovereignty can be re-examined in relation
to human mobility. In the course of the semester, the Migration Lab itself will also go
into exile. In collaboration with the artist collective parallelgesellschaft, we will move to
Galerie Nord from mid-May onwards to open up new paths from there. Everyone is
